Tim Holtz resist technique

So after going to Tim's class last Sunday I've been really inspired by all of his stuff. I was looking on his site the other day and found a tutorial on using the Ranger Paint Daubers and Distress Ink to do an Awesome resist technique (click here). So I went to Hobby Lobby yesterday to pick up some of the daubers. Well I hit the JACKPOT!!! I found 1 set that was marked down to $3.59 from $9.99 and then two other sets which weren't marked down. Took them all up front and the girl gave me all of them for $3.59 each. So I got all 3 sets for just a little more than one set would have cost :) YAY!  So I decided to play a bit today with them.  Here are three little things I made this morning.  Be sure you check out the video, it's too cool.

I just cut out a few different shapes with my cricut and then used the Stampers Anonymous Fairytale Frenzy set and the Snow Cap paint dauber to stamp the white floral print on the back.  Let that dry then used various colors of Distress Ink to color over the entire piece of paper.  Then spritzed some water on a towel (very little) and then wiped the ink off the paint.  Then I used the splatterfly stamp from the same set with archival ink and stamped it on top. Finally, topped it off with some Rock Candy Distress Crackle paint. Looks so cool. Have a ton of other ideas using this technique.  I just love how the white pops from the rest of the color. I tried using Metallic Pearl dauber but it didn't work as well, but not sure if I got enough paint on it.

TIM HOLTZ IDEA-OLOGY INTRIGUE CLASS

Sunday I was lucky enough to go to one of Tim Holtz's classes.  My mom and I went to Idea-ology Intrigue. We had a BLAST! I'm not going to lie, I was totally intimidated at first,  I LOVE Tim's products, but am never quite sure how to use some of them.  We made 6 projects in 3 1/2 hours. He is such a FANTASTIC teacher and is SUPER POSITIVE! I am so glad I got to go. It was definitely a fantastic experience.  Both mom and I had lots of fun. I am looking forward to using the techniques that I learned in the class to create many more projects. I am hoping I will get another chance to go to one of his classes in the near future.  Both Tim and Mario are super nice guys.  Here are some of the pictures of the 5 of the 6 projects we made.

Project #1-Pin/Pendant made with Ranger Memory Glass & Memory Frames along with several Tim Holtz products.  We made the nests and used some really cool liquid called Black Patena to change the color from silver to black on the nest.

Project #2- A stopwatch necklace using Tim Holtz Sprockets & Gears, Game Spinners and a few other products. This is one of my favorite things we made.

Project #3-Pin made with a Tim Holtz ornate plate, tulle, some bobbles, tissue tape and prima roses dipped in melted Utee ultra thick. Makes the roses look glass like. Too cool....

Project #4-A ring made with a filigree ring blank, Tim Holtz foliage, a rhinestone and alcohol ink.

Project #5-A charm bracelet using bead chain and type charms. These are really pretty cool.

I can't wait to create more fantastic stuff with Tim's awesome projects!  I got to use Tim's drill press tool. It's AMAZING! I can't wait to get one of these. They punch through metal. We used them to put holes in different pieces.
